JOHNNIE WALKER GOLF SERIES 2008-2009: GENERAL COMPETITION CONDITION |

- THE JOHNNIE WALKER GOLF SERIES 2008-2009 – A KGU APPROVED EVENT: Open to all handicapped golfers above the age of 18 years. No markers or non handicapped players will be allowed to participate. Guests/Staff of the sponsor will be allowed to play provided they have valid KGU/KLGU handicaps.
- THE JOHNNIE WALKER GOLF SERIES 2008-2009 WILL BE PLAYED IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE RULES OF GOLF. Kindly note that from January 2008, only R&A/USGA approved Drivers will be allowed for all golf competitions. (Note: The list of non conforming drivers is available at the KGU offices in Nairobi. The list can also be retrieved from the R&A website).
- FORMAT OF PLAY, DIVISION A, B & C – 18 holes Stable-ford Format, Off-Full Handicap for both Male & Female Golfers in Division A (handicap 9 and under), Division B (handicap 10-18) and C (handicap 19 and above).
- TIME OF STARTING – Players must adhere to their teams and tee-off times as indicated in the draw. If a player arrives at the starting point, ready to play, within five minutes after the stated time, the penalty for failure to start on time is two strokes at the first hole. Players who are more than 5-minutes late will NOT be allowed to participate. For purposes of clarity, the STARTER’S CLOCK IS THE OFFICIAL TIME. (Rule 6-3 and 33-7 apply).
- ENTRY FEE – All players, with the exception of EABL/KGU/KLGU GUESTS, will pay KES700. KES100 optional ball pool is NOT included in the KES700 entry fee.
- ENTRY DEADLINE – Entries close at 1800hrs on the Tuesday preceding each Qualifying Round. Club Captains are requested to send in their draws by 1000hrs on the Wednesday preceding each Qualifying Round. Club Captains are also encouraged to take stern action against NO SHOWS.
- QUALIFYING FORMAT – Each qualifying round will produce ten (10) qualifiers. If no ladies are among the top ten, then the top lady on the day will be included as an 11th qualifier. Of the ten (10) qualifiers, four (4) will be from A-Division (Handicap 9 and below), three (3) from B-Division (Handicap 10-18) and three (3) will be from C-Division (Handicap 19 and above).
- GRAND FINALE – At the Grand Finale, all male and female players will compete on equal footing. Players will be required to play off the handicap they qualified under or better. No player may participate in the finals on a handicap higher than the one he/she qualified under. Of the five qualifying amateurs, Three (3) will be from Division A, One (1) each from Division B and C.
- PRO CLINICS – where Professional Golfers are invited to play, they will conduct COACHING CLINICS on the Friday afternoon preceding the main event. Club Captains are requested to encourage their members to attend these FREE COACHING CLINICS.
- PRIZES – Top five winners, Best Lady, Guest Prizes, Best Nines. Prize categories may vary from venue to venue. No player may win more than one prize.
- TIES – in the event of a tie for any position, COUNT-BACK will be over the last 9, last 6, last 3 or last hole on the card.
- The Host Club/Captain shall form a Competition Committee to handle any issues that may arise.
- PRIZE GIVING CEREMONY – Prize giving will be at 1900hrs and captains are reminded to encourage all club members and their spouses to be present at the Prize giving ceremony. No show no prize.
